Condolence From: Dorise Sweetnam
Condolence: I was saddened when my brother Phil let me know of George's transition from this existence. May his journey be gentle, and his destination be peaceful and loving. I have many wonderful youthful memories of Sweetnam family reunions when both George and Lee's families made much of the story telling, caring, sharing and merriment. You have my heart felt empathy during this time of shift and change to life. I do not know what you are all feeling as every relationship has its own unique aspects. I do know about loss, grief and sadness. I pray that you feel fully supported as you process what is important to you, for what ever time you need. There will be many challenging firsts without George yet knowing that you are fully loved will get you through, so will memories. Wherever you find yourselves, may that space, as well as all those you love and care for, be your sanctuary at this time of transition and healing. Blessings

Condolence From: Tom PLAUNT
Condolence: Our sympathy to the Sweetnam family. We have such warm memories of New Liskeard, the contribution of your family to the community, and the crazy happenings on Mary Street. I played with George in the NLHS Band for a bit, and my mother Mary, who is still with us at 102, taught for NLPS and Herb for many years. She also wishes to be remembered to you all. Such a fine and positive man. We are so sorry that you have lost him to the stars. Tom Plaunt, Beaconsfield, QC

Condolence: To Marion and family. Please accept my sincere condolence on your loss. I had hoped to see George during the 50th U of G 66 reunion in June which I attended. I have fond memories of our time at U of G and a trip that George and Don Brown made to my boyhood home in Nolalu, Ontario.

Condolence: To Marian and family – we are thinking of you at this sad time. We have so many wonderful memories of George – he was a man who knew how to enjoy life and prioritized his efforts accordingly. The driveway may have needed to be shovelled, but nary a snowflake was out of place on the bobsled run! Our grown children still remember the “submarine” ride behind the boat at the cottage. George had a sense of humour and spread the gift of laughter wherever he went. We regret that we let distance and busy schedules interfere with making more memories. But we will always cherish the times we had together.

Condolence From: Shirley And Doug Collins
Condolence: Dear Marian, Steve, Nicole, Nancy and Frazer, Peter and Shelley and your littles: we cannot express how saddened we were to hear of George's passing. Without your guidance and support, we would never have become the swimming family that we are, both competitively and working the pool deck! Watching our kids grow and succeed is due in large part to your mentor ship and love of the sport. George's quiet humour and infectious smile will be sorely missed. Doug and Shirley collins

Condolence From: Gael Morrison
Condolence: So sorry to hear of George's passing. Incredibly he was my dentist for over 40 years and I never really appreciated him until he retired! One of the joys of living in a small town was exchanging news of our respective families while in the dentist chair. He was always a gentleman and a well respected professional. He will be sorely missed in the community. Sincere sympathy to all the family from Ev and myself.

Condolence From: Ross and Pat smyth
Condolence: To Marian and family .. our deepest condolences. We came to Lindsay 36 years ago and for most of that time, George was our dentist. It is amazing how many interesting conversations we had over those years while sitting, mouth open, in his dentist chair .. talking about planes .. contrasting our two “boat access” cottages .. listening to his memories of highway 7 trips to Ottawa past our Sharbot Lake cottage .. talking of “Sweetnam” genealogy .. of life in New Liskeard .. of his deep pride in his children and grandchildren. We almost looked forward to our next appointment! He was a great story-teller and a good and decent man. Sincerely, Ross and Pat Smyth

Condolence: The Inrig family are very sad to hear of the death of George. He contributed greatly to the community and our George always looked forward to a good visit with George when he went to the Dentist - driving all the way from Picton for an appointment. Unfortunately, our George has recently passed too so perhaps George S is looking into the mouth of George I up there somewhere - or perhaps not. Our sincere sympathy to all of the family.

Condolence: Dear Marian and the Sweetnam family Love to you all at this oh so sad time and we send our sincere condolences. So many wonderful, fleeting memories of you all - on visits, trips and via emails. Being at OAC with George could fill many a page with stories of Curtain Call, '66-6. proctoring at Mills Hall, adventures in the classic car, embarrassing moments -wearing p-js to a football game (?) - I wallow in blissful nostalgia. We are blessed to be part of your lives. Eldon and Anne Zuill

Condolence: To Marian and family, I met George in 1962 and was honoured to spend years with him as we were in Microbiology together. What a gentle man with a fine sense of humour. Usually where George was , you could find Don Brown, Eldon Zuill and Paul Tamblyn. Many classmates were asking about him at our recent U of G 50th anniversary. A man who left a mark wherever he went. I am sure his family and his community have lost a tower of a man but I bet he has left you all with many gifts, stories and blessings. In our hearts forever, Dave Jones 66OAC
