The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of John Howard DeRusha can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Dad

John was the only child of Laurine, and was extremely devoted to her. John looked after her later in life after she suffered a stroke. He was the best dad a guy could ask for. Dad taught  me to walk ,talk, skate and played hockey in the basement for hours on end. He never missed a game or practice with me. He was always my biggest fan and cheerleader. I can remember at a young age sitting with him as he drew an engine and the different strokes which of course ignited our shared passion for cars which we were able to share as we grew older and were lucky enough to work together. His grandchildren were the apple of his eye. He adored first Danielle and then Jeffrey. He went to numerous dance recitals, baseball games, hockey games and school plays smiling the whole time.Dad was the President and Dealer Principal of Race Toyota since 1976 and enjoyed meeting and dealing with his customers and always had a warm friendly smile and putting the customer first , building the business from a small import dealership to what it is today. Near the end dad suffered the effects of previous heart and stroke conditions but seeing his his new great granddaughter , Olivia would light up his day and his face. Dad was able to keep his great sense of humour right to the last days and always enjoyed a laugh or a joke. We will miss this great man very badly but take solice in the fact that he is no longer suffering. Take care dad , we love you
