Blasco, Constance Irene "Connie"
Connie, known to all as Nana and Auntie Connie, passed away peacefully in her sleep in her 94th year at Oakwood Terrace, Dartmouth NS on Valentine's Day. Born in Winnipeg Man., Connie moved to Toronto with her husband at the end of WWII. She moved to Lindsay in 1962 where she resided until her move to Dartmouth in 2011. Connie led an energetic, enthusiastic and busy life actively involved in raising a family, working as a bookkeeper, helping run a business, travelling the globe, donating her time to charities and volunteer organizations and even working as a bus tour guide around Canada and the US in her 70's . Best of all she enjoyed tipping scotch and sampling fine food with family and friends of whom there were many. She was a passionate bridge player, an avid reader, a generous and gracious hostess and a lady of culture with a keen interest in world events. All who knew her were very aware that Connie had a definite opinion on everything.
More than anything, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the focus of her life.
Connie is survived by her son Steve (Sandy) Dartmouth NS, granddaughter Katie (Keith) Quebec City, grandson Ryan (Sarah) Dartmouth, great granddaughters Alisha Dartmouth, Maya Quebec City , and grandson Cole Dartmouth. Connie was predeceased by her parents Emma and Bill Clark, husband Steve, sister Olive and daughter Judy.
Over her many years spent in Dartmouth Nana Connie became central to celebrations and social events, and all the Blasco family's friends and their children were always eager to see her. She was just as eager to see all of them and to enthusiastically learn of their adventures and activities. During her Ontario years she was welcomed as Auntie Connie and loved very much by her Jones family cousins, Bruce and Barb Grimsby , and their children Monica (Dan), Cathy (Jim), Sheila (Eric) and David (Karen) and their 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Auntie Connie was a vibrant and integral part of their lives.
Very special thanks to all the Dartmouth Oakwood Terrace staff especially to all the wonderful caregivers in Unit A who gave Connie so much time and attention.
Cremation has taken place. At Connie's request a Celebration of Her Life will take place in the spring. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mackey Funeral Home, 33 Peel Street, Lindsay. Donations in her memory may be made to the Arthritis Society. Online condolences may be made at www.mackeys.ca
