Obituary for Yvonne Shirley Maxine Doherty (Graff)

Yvonne Doherty, passed away peacefully and courageously on Wednesday April 26, 2017 with her daughter Colleen by her side. She was a loving devoted and supportive wife of her husband, Alf, throughout their 50 years together. Yvonne was the caring generous mother of her daughter Colleen and her husband Paul Jokhu and her son Brian and his wife Leanne Doherty. Also she was a most generous loving grandmother to her grandchildren, Mason, Brianna, Kaitlin and Paige. In addition Yvonne leaves behind her brother Ed Graff from Hamilton. Yvonne, a graduate from Waterloo University, had a distinguished career at different secondary schools in particular L.C.V.I. where she specialized teaching English and math. Later on she spent 15 successful years teaching English, computer studies and graphics at Sir Sanford Fleming Community College. Yvonne was an ardent bridge player and gained the reputation of a duplicate bridge master within the Lindsay Chapter. Additionally, Yvonne had become renowned in the area of computer graphics and made numerous contributions to many clubs and organizations which will be greatly missed. Yvonne had a musical background which was enhanced by her years of singing in the Cambridge Street United Church Choir.
She was an amazing woman and made us proud and we will miss her more than words can say.
There will be a visitation at Cambridge Street United Church, 61 Cambridge St Lindsay, Ontario on Wednesday May 3rd from 12:00 until 1:45 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Reception will follow interment at Riverside Cemetery. Memorial donations to the local Cancer Society would be most acceptable. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Mackey Funeral Home Lindsay.
