Obituary for Jean Kennedy

Print
Jean Elizabeth Kennedy (nee Hall) Passed away at Case Manor Care Community in Bobcaygeon on June 16, 2018 at the age of 95. Born in Lindsay, Jean was the beloved daughter of the late William Hall and Ethel (Giles) Hall, sister to the late Viola Quinn (Melville), Dorothy Bryans (Ivan), Margaret Lyons (Meryl) and Donald Hall (all predeceased). She was the beloved wife of the late Laurence Kennedy and dear mother of Larry Kennedy and his wife Nairn, of Panama and Donna Junkin and her husband Lionel, of Sudbury. She was the loving grandmother of Ian Kennedy (Kim), Jeffery Kennedy (Julia), Marc Kennedy (Janice) and Jessi Drinkwalter (Zach) and great grandmother of Matthew Kennedy, Liam Kennedy, Ireland Kennedy and Connor Kennedy. Jean is survived by her sister-in-law Elsie Hall and many cherished nieces and nephews. Jean was passionately devoted to her family, friends, her church and her community. She was a devoted member of the Dunsford United Church, where she was a faithful member of the choir for over 40 years. She was an active member of the UCW, Dunsford Seniors’ Club, volunteer at the Dunsford Community Centre and contributor to community groups and services too numerous to mention. Jean is remembered as a beautiful and joyful woman who had nothing but kindness in her heart, and was always willing to “lend a hand” offering an encouraging word to anyone in need. She loved playing cards, skating, curling, snowmobiling and especially music, whether it was singing, dancing (at which she excelled) or playing the piano. She had a full, happy long life. She gave selflessly and generously her love and energy to everyone she met, also enjoyed their love and support in return. Jean will be sorely missed. The family expresses their appreciation to the members of her church community and caregivers who offered so much support and love when she needed it most. Mrs. Kennedy will be resting at the Mackey Funeral Home, 33 Peel Street, Lindsay on Friday June 22 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service at Dunsford United Church on Saturday June 23 at 11:00 am . Interment at Dunsford Cemetery. Memorial donations to Dunsford United Church would be appreciated by the family and may be made at the funeral home or online at www.mackeys.ca
