Hazel Hladki, aged 98, left us peacefully on July 14, 2017 while at Ross Memorial Hospital. Hazel was born September 8, 1918 in Arthur, Ontario, the daughter of George and Bertha Langdon. She is survived by her children, Roger (partner Bev Hearty), Karen (partner Randy Mullen) and Jane (husband Mike Cooper), sister Shirley (husband Neil Macdougall), sister Violet (predeceased) (Ray -predeceased) and brother Alan (predeceased) (Annabelle- predeceased), niece Laura (partner Philip Watkins), nephew Colin (wife Elana), and their children Colin and Carlos, nephew Rick (Linda), niece's Ellen, Barb and Heather, grandchildren Chris, Ryan, and Rose and goddaughter Amy (Hall), cousin Jean Hanna, brothers-in-law Bob (Helen-predeceased) and Stan-predeceased (Helen-predeceased) and their families and close extended "family" Susan and Val Hall, Sheila and Reg Brenchley, Jasmine (predeceased), and Brooklyn. She was united in marriage to Roger Hladki on October 1944 in Windsor and had 53 wonderful years till his passing in 1997. Always supportive and encouraging, she was devoted to, and immensely proud of her family. As a giving, caring wife, mother and friend, she opened her heart and home to all. Her wide variety of interests included a love of music, reading, theology, and politics. Hazel cherished being able to commune with nature especially at the family cottage. She was actively involved as a member of Queen Street United Church and more recently attended Cambridge Street United Church. With a quiet strength, selfless nature and desire to serve others, Hazel lived every moment she was given. The family wishes to acknowledge the community support that allowed our mother to stay at home for almost 60 years. Thanks to Paramed’s PSW’s Kathy, Janice and Natalie, to Rev. Denise Boyd, Joan and Jim Smiley, Brian Farmer, and Nancy Payne for your spiritual comfort, to Doug, Grace, Charmaine, Brian, Janet, Nancy, Mary-Anne and Pearl, Ann and Jerry for your compassion and friendship, to Kathy Puffer, Dr. S. Vorster, and Dr. M. Francis for their medical support, to the caregivers/friends Adele Hopkins (predeceased), Moyra Pett, Lorraine Byrne, Liz Simser and Josephine Vandenburg for your love to the end, and to the many other friends who enriched our Mother’s Life. A Memorial and Celebration of Life Service will be held at Celebrations (the former Queen Street United Church location), 35 Lindsay Street North, Lindsay on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Interment of Cremated Remains will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Lindsay. Reception will be held following the interment at Celebrations. Memorial donations to the Kawartha Lakes Food Source or a Charity of Your Choice would be appreciated by the family.
