BACKUS, Barbara Jean (née Scammell) – Passed away peacefully at Caressant Care Mary Street, Lindsay on Thursday, September 28th at the age of 91. Barbara was the beloved wife of Ross in their 67th year of marriage. Loving mother of Donna Backus, Joan Backus (Ricky Schwartz), and Nancy Archer (Bruce). Cherished grandmother of Loric and Élodie St-Onge, Tory Hearn (Ryan), Jeff Archer (Lauren), Ali Christie (Sean) and Megan Archer. Great-grandmother of Lucas Ross Hearn. Dear sister of Alan Scammell and Sheila Dalton. Visitation will be held at the Mackey Funeral Home, 33 Peel Street, Lindsay on Friday, October 6th from 7:00p.m. until 9:00p.m. and Saturday, October 7th from 12:30 until time of funeral service in the chapel at 1:30pm. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery. If desired, a memorial donation to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
