Obituary for Blanche Ethel Hopkins

Blanche Ethel Hopkins (née Heasman)
January 2, 1923 - June 13, 2019
Blanche, age 96, is with her Lord now, having passed away peacefully in Caressant Care Nursing Home, Mary Street, on Thursday morning, June 13th. She was born in Coboconk and the family later moved to Lindsay. She was married to James John Hopkins until his death in 1983. Both were employed at the Brinton/Armstrong Carpet Factory for many years. She enjoyed knitting, jigsaw puzzles, country music, geraniums and Murdoch Mysteries. She was a past member of the Apostolic/Peoples Full Gospel Church on Cambridge Street North. In 1994, she had her first airplane ride on a trip to Kenora. Always young-looking, she fooled many people about her age. In spite of her infirmities, she was a very determined lady and will be missed. Blanche was predeceased by her parents Beatrice and James "Leslie" Heasman and daughter Denzel and granddaughter Kim Bekker. Survived by daughter Beverly Raby (Gerald Heath) of Kenora and son, Ronald of Lindsay. A visitation will take place at the Mackey Funeral Home, 33 Peel Street Lindsay, on Wednesday, June 19th from 10:00a.m. until time of funeral service in the chapel at 11:00 A.M. Interment to follow at Zion Fenelon Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army Citadel, or Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation, or Gideon's Bible. Special thanks to Susan and Jim Peirce and Brian and Pam Farmer for their care and support over the years.
