Obituary for Bruce Hawkin

Hawkin, Bruce Edwin

Jan.23/1955 - Oct. 21/2022

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Bruce Hawkin at Ross Memorial Hospital at the age of 67.

Bruce will be lovingly remembered by his wife Angela, son Brandon and daughter Alicia (Nathan), brother Bob and his nieces Brianna (Grayden) and Emily Hawkin, and mother-in-law Marilyn Mitchell.

Predeceased by his parents George and Ilean Hawkin and father-in-law Don Meehan.

Bruce will be fondly remembered by many friends and neighbours.

A true gentleman, Bruce was always eager to assist anyone who needed a helping hand. He enjoyed any type of machinery, repairing and building in a meticulous way.

Bruce attended college to pursue a career in marine mechanics and he utilized his skills at Thompson's Marina in Coboconk. He found great joy in helping to maintain the Hawkin family houseboat along with his family.

After a time, Bruce decided to re-attend college to obtain his industrial electrical license.

He apprenticed at Union Carbide in Lindsay, and once the business closed he obtained his long-term career at Lear Seating in Whitby. He was in the Maintenance shop for 29 years until retirement in Jan. 2021.

Bruce was involved in motorsports with Brandon and enjoyed working on racing go-karts for him in prior years. He was involved in Alicia's prior interests from gymnastics to dance recitals but had a special joy in their mutual love of 5 pin bowling. They enjoyed their Wednesday night league and were competitive with one another each week while Bruce was putting in extra practice to try and improve his game.

Bruce will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew him.

Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Lindsay on Sunday Nov.6th at 12:30 pm. All are welcome.

The Celebration of Life will follow at 1:00 pm at Mackey Celebrations located at 35 Lindsay St. N., Lindsay. (corner of Queen and Lindsay St.)
