Obituary for Carol Kennedy

It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Carol Lorraine Kennedy on December 11th, 2020. She slipped away peacefully in her 65th year, surrounded by the love and care of her family and wonderful caregivers at Mount Hope in London, Ontario.

Born in Lindsay to the late Margaret and Claude Kennedy, Carol was the dearest sister of James (pre-deceased) and beloved sister and best friend to Nancy (David) Murphy. She will be fondly remembered and forever missed by her nieces and nephews and their families.

A graduate of LCVI, the University of Waterloo and Seneca College, Carol's zest for life and love of Canada's west led her to Edmonton, Alberta. She built an admired career with the Government of Alberta where she was renowned for her merry-making and respected for her intelligence. Carol was a true people person, where she went, fun, laughter and adventure was sure to follow. Her contributions to her western Canada community were immeasurable and her awards well deserved.

In 2004 a sudden and life-altering illness brought Carol back to Ontario and her family. She took up residency at Mount Hope and redefined her life in so many new ways. While not always easy battles to face, she took on every new life and health challenge with courage, grace, and laughter. For her family, friends and caregivers her humor is legendary. It's this humor that is at the heart of every Carol Kennedy story and will continue to be for years to come. Carol's joyful spirit and generous heart will be sadly missed by all who have had the privilege to know and love her. Our sorrow is beyond measure; we know the void she left in our lives will never be filled.

A celebration of her amazing life, joyful spirit and truly wonderful soul will take place at a later date. Until then, if desired, memorial donations to St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Lindsay, Ontario may be made through the Mackey Funeral Home or online at www.mackeys.ca
