Obituary for Diana Carter

Diana Sylvia Carter passed away suddenly at the age of 80. She was the only child of Dora Tjart and Richard Monroe. She is survived by her loving husband and best friend of 39 years, Dwayne Cecil Carter. Diana grew up in West Palm Beach, Florida, but moved to Toronto in the 1960s and since 1976 resided in Lindsay. She is also survived by her three children, Paul Steel (Christine) of Cobourg, Suzanne Steel (Michel) of Collingwood and David Steel (Kim) of Ohio and stepsons Barry Carter, Brian Carter, Bradley Carter and Bobby Carter. She was deeply loved by her grandchildren Devon, Cameron, Marshall, Allison, Paul, Robbie, Jamison and Brittany along with her great grandchildren Hailey, Bradley and Robert. She is also survived by her stepsister Dawn Monroe.
Diana and Dwayne were happy snowbirds and spent their winters in Fort Myers, Florida, where she could be around her beloved flowers. She was a fierce protector of her family all her life, but she never failed to nurture her wild streak, and had been dreaming of and planning a post-covid cross country RV trip with Dwayne. A Memorial service will be held at Mount Lawn Funeral Home, 21 Garrard Road, Whitby, on Saturday, July 24th at 2 p.m. In light of Diana’s happiness around gardens, feel free to wear flowery clothes. Please call the Mount Lawn Funeral Home to book a time for your visit, depending on COVID restrictions
