Obituary for Doug Watson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the loss of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Douglas Ronald Watson, on the 12th of April at Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay. Predeceased by his parents Gilbert and Marjorie and his first wife Audrey, Doug lived well into his 98th year healthy until the end both physically and mentally. He had a joyful second chance at love and life with his dear wife Kay, whom he married in 1985. He was a devoted and adored father to Mardi (Bob, predeceased), Doug (Kristen), and Peter (Annette). He also was much loved by Kay’s daughters Kathy (Mark), Karen (Jay), and Kristen (married to his son, Doug!). Together they shared grandchildren Jenni, Jeff, Tim, Peter, Paul, Katherine, Greg, Sarah, Douglas, Charlotte, Jennifer, Amy, Jason, Ben, and Kira, and nineteen great grandchildren. Early in his life he was the owner/operator of Glenvale and Gilmar Lodges and lived, right up until the end, on the shores of his favourite place in the world, Sturgeon Lake. Doug had a passion for flying and was instrumental in the foundation of the Lindsay Airport. He was a skilled pilot and continued flying, building aircraft and restoring boats, which kept him busy and engaged throughout his long retirement. Treasured by both his wives, all his children and grandchildren, and living in his dream location, it was an idyllic life. God bless and keep you our darling man. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
