Obituary

Obituary for Jack Satterwhite

With heartfelt sadness, the family of Eric "Jack" Satterwhite announce his sudden passing on June 24, 2020, peacefully in his sleep at home in Coquitlam, B.C., surrounded by their love. He was born in Simcoe, Ontario, on June 20, 1939, which was his grandfather's birthday. From that time on, he was known to all of his family and friends as Jack after his grandfather. Jack and his family lived just outside Lindsay, in Oakwood, Ontario for 36 years before moving Coquitlam, B.C. in 2010. Jack was the beloved husband and best friend of Helen Satterwhite (O'Loughlin), and the loving father of Lori, Jackie, and Glen. Dear brother of Dorothy (Henry) Felhaber of Ottawa, and cherished uncle of her Dudek family; Gloria, Robert (Ruth), Kathy (Reginald), Darrell (Donna), Lorrie (Lothar), and predeceased by Debbie (Raymond). Devoted grandfather to AJ and Keira, and their mother, Johanna (Jasmins). Predeceased by parents Glenwood and Florence Satterwhite (Harper). Dear brother-in-law of Ann (Ralph) Ballam, Paul (Susan) O'Loughan, Rita (the late Phil) Jackson of Rideau Ferry, Jane Andrews of Guelph, Cheryl (the late Pat) O'Loughlin, and Doreen (the late John) O'Loughlin. Dear brother-in-law of predeceased; Michael (Violet) O'Loughlin, Mary (Jim) Ballam, Peter O'Loughlin, and nephew Johnny O'Loughlin. Dear uncle of several nieces and nephews. Dearly loved by the Therrien family. Jack had a passion for fishing, cooking, gardening, and bird watching. He was an avid reader, and enjoyed driving and traveling the countryside.

Eternal rest be given unto you, Jack, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon you. May you rest in peace Jack. Amen.

Jack's Celebration of Life will be led by the Rev. David Stevens online at a later date. If desired, memorial donations to a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.

Dear Helen, Lori, Jackie and Glen
It is with heavy heart that I am sending you this tribute: As young children we loved our Uncle Jack and were so excited for each of his visits. During my marriage, Jack met a beautiful, kind and loving woman named Helen. We became very close, like sisters. When they got married on January 30, 1972, Kevin was a baby and I was pregnant with Timmy. We had great times together, lots of fun and laughs. Helen and I loved shopping. Jack was always patient and kind. He didn’t mind waiting for us because he always had smoked sausages in paper bags hid throughout the car. Helen didn’t like it. Jack loved his family and wanted to know his roots. He told me to get on a plane and visit our relatives in England, which I did. Eunice and Keith Robinson, Peter and Larraine Harper came to Canada to meet all our family. Jack was so ecstatic! After that, Jack took Helen to North Carolina looking for the Satterwhite relatives. He met several but Herserd was very special. I went to North Carolina to meet everyone also. Unfortunately Herserd was planning a trip to Canada but he died of a heart attack which devastated us all. Jack made sure he was at all our special events. On July 10, 1993 I got baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. We had a wonderful family reunion at Darrell’s in Ottawa. Sadly in 2000, we lost my precious sister Debbie. Jack and Helen made the drive on Christmas Day for her funeral. We were so encouraged by their thoughtfulness. Jack was a very generous person because I was able to take my friends to his cabin in Louisdale, Cape Breton. As the kids were growing up, we spent a lot of time together. We loved Jack’s fish frys. He loved his sister Dorothy very much and she loved him in return. Jack was the greatest Uncle we could ever had. Words cannot really express the loss that I feel. Every visit that I had with you over the years were always special and wonderful. He will be sadly missed and always in my thoughts. I will always love you my dear Uncle Jack forever ❤️💕

Helen,Lori,Jackie and Glen; We were so sorry to hear of Jack's passing. It is with great sadness that we only have the memories, and memories we did make in the 36 years you lived across the road. Jack and Bill off on their little tours every day and cards at night. Helen and your ginger cookies that Dan still misses today. I could go on as the memories are all there to remember.Helen, Lori, Jackie and Glen you have a lot of your own memories as well, keep them in your hearts and always remember the good times. They will always be with you. We think of you all the time and especially each time Dan cuts the grass across the road as he remembers Jack doing the same thing. Stay safe and healthy! Norma,Dan and Cherie Gorrill and family.
