Many people may not know about Mel's achievements in volleyball. As part of the team that Mel led to the Canadian Championship in 1975 I would like to express my deepest sympathy. Mel had the wisdom and skills necessary to motivate a group of unrefined young athletes to pursue and obtain the highest achievement in Canadian volleyball. I know that some of the lessons we learned from him have been useful guides in navigating the challenges of life after volleyball.

Mel and Ev Holick were members at Meadowbrook G.C where I was the Assistant Golf Professional from 1964 to 1970. Both were wonderful people who treated the employees with dignity and respect.
