Obituary for George Thompson

Thompson, George - George passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, May 28, 2022 after battling cancer & alzheimers. Loving son of the late Lorne & Vera Thompson of Cameron. George was a devoted husband of 63 years to Mary Lou (née Sinclair). He will be sadly missed by his children Roderick (Janet), Douglas (the late Linda), Deborah Sawyer (Stephen), his grandchildren Lyndsay, Aaron, Tyler, Justin, Morgan, and great-grandchild Bryer. He was a dedicated family man and cared for them always. He is survived by his siblings Jim (Betty), Carl, Marion (Dave) Thaxter, Lloyd (Carol), Lorna Krugel, Allan (Theresa), and predeceased by siblings Velma (the late Cliff Maunder), Helen Thompson, Andy Krugel, Pearl and Bob Hampton. Brother in law of Maxine Sinclair, the late Alex Sinclair, and the late Robert Sinclair. George will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. George worked for General Motors in Oshawa for 30 years. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Later in life he took up golf and was an active member of Wolf Run Golf Course. In keeping with George's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Lindsay with George's family, siblings, nieces and nephews. If desired, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimer Society of Ontario would be appreciated by the family.
