Obituary for Harold Hawkshaw

Passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 9, 2023 after a lifetime of service to his country, his church and his community. Harold is a WWII veteran having served with the CAOF 3rd Bn Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa (1945-1946) in Belgium, The Netherlands and Germany. He was a founding and lifetime member of Northminster United Church in Oshawa. He coached Tim Bits youth hockey in the 1970’s, and was a volunteer for many years with the Oshawa Blind Curlers. A lifelong resident of Oshawa, he retired from General Motors in 1981 after 38 years. Harold is predeceased by Sini (2002), his wife of 55 years, and his youngest son Rick (2007) (Dawna of Garden Hill). Loving father of Rinus (Jan) of Pontypool, Gerry (Susan) of Lindsay, and Ted (Connie) of Belleville, Michigan. Opa will be dearly missed by his 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and his many nieces and nephews in Canada, The Netherlands and Sweden. A private family service will be held at a later date.
