Obituary for Harold Theodore Rhind

Rhind, Harold Theodore - Harold passed away peacefully at Caressant Care Nursing Home, Lindsay, Ontario, on Friday, December 6th, 2019 in his 102nd year. Harold was the beloved husband of the late Margaret Rhind (née Kitchener) (2005) and he was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

He is survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews who have enjoyed for decades tales of his adventures after leaving home in Elderbank, Nova Scotia as a teenager. He loved to be on the water and was a Canadian Power Squadron Founding Member. He delighted in telling stories of working in the logging camps in Northern Ontario, as an engineer on the construction of major Ontario bridges, eventually making a life in Toronto as a construction supervisor and, on retirement in Bobcaygeon, a cattle farmer. Even at 100, he would re-tell with every detail intact, stories of his road trips across North America and the love of travel that he and Marg shared.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. We would like to thank Caressant Care Nursing Home for their compassionate care. All arrangements are private and are entrusted to Mackey Funeral Home Inc. (1-705-328-2721). If desired, memorial donations to a charity of your choice may be made in memory of Harold or you may honor his life by planting a memorial tree. Messages of condolence and donations may be placed at ww.mackey.ca.
