Obituary for Helen Swanson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Helen Louise Swanson, at the age of 85, on October 9, 2022. For 65 years, Helen was the beloved wife of Paul, mother of Alan (Cathy Jo), Marilyn (Gary) Lugmayr and Cheryl (Steve) Little. Dear sister to Bill (Ann) Christie of Brantford, ON.

Helen's grandchildren and great-children were the light of her life, all of whom she adored. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren Craig and Scott Swanson, Nick Lugmayr and Jaclyn Naylor (nee Lugmayr), and Doug, Mike, Jon and Russ Little. Affectionately known as Gigi, Helen was blessed with great-grandchildren Kaysen and Colten Naylor and Jackson Swanson.

Helen and Paul moved to Lindsay in 1980, following a two year move to Ohio, and previously Brantford, ON, where Helen was born on November 3, 1936.

She was employed for 16 years by the Lindsay Daily Post. For a number of years following retirement, she volunteered at the hospital auxiliary cafe. As a long time resident of Lindsay, Helen was involved with the Lindsay Seniors Association, playing cards with her many friends at the Lindsay Armoury and the Chadwin Chicks dinner night group.

As a devoted church member, Helen sang in church choirs since she was a young girl, and was a proud member of the St. Andrew's Presbyterian church choir, where she sang in the Living Christmas tree for 38 years. She was also an active member of the Mary Martha's group.

Visitation will be held at Mackey Funeral Home on Thursday, October 20th, 2022 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm.
