Last night my world was flipped upside down ... I’m not even sure how it happened ... I think I’m still in shock a little ... we get a call in the late afternoon and hours later, he’s gone! Last night I lost my last living grandparent. I have been VERY fortunate in life to know many of my grandparents (once a point of time there was 5 generations of us) on my moms side, but now they are all gone here on earth and reunited up in heaven. I’m the first of five grandchildren, I was spoiled and loved and in the end had the honour to be with them both when they took their last breaths. Grampie, you are just the cutest man I’ve ever know. Your jokes, guitar playing, wood working talent, attention to detail, Burger King loving, support and most of all love will be greatly missed. Tell Grammie I said hi and that I miss her very much, please have fun and live the rest of your life in good health and happiness with your one true love. This is my most favourite picture of the two of us ... a proud first time grandfather with his chubby bikini wearing first granddaughter!

On Tuesday, Grampie was called home. It is with many tears and much love that we celebrate the life of a great man who profoundly impacted our lives with his unconditional love and endless support.
Growing up I was blessed to see my grandparents often. I have so many memories of our visits and sleepovers. They are among my best memories.
As I grew older, 3,371 became the number of kilometers between us, but the emails, phone calls, and memories are too many to be numbered.
Grampie,
You taught me to appreciate everything I have as you told me of how you grew up with nothing. "If we didn't shoot it, kill it, or grow it - then we didn't eat" you said with a laugh.
You showed me true love when you told me of how you and Gram started with nothing, unless you counted the one dollar in your pocket.
It wasn't about what you didn't have though; you had it all with her. And just look at the beautiful life you built together.
You showed me partnership every time you stood beside her to do the dishes and each time you chose to support her dreams and vision.
You taught me that even heroes struggle while walking through darkness when you confided in me after we lost her.
You showed me what love was, so that I could find it myself.
You raised an equally amazing son and I am so thankful for that. You gave him the best parts of you.
You taught me the value of time and money, but reminded me to enjoy it while I am able.
You demonstrated patience and determination when your hands skillfully shaped the wood beneath them, bringing new creations to life in your workshop.
You brought me joy every time I heard you laugh or when you shared a joke born from your wild wit, and when the music effortlessly flowed through your fingers. And your smile. I loved your smile.
My heart was bursting with happiness when I saw you hold our little girl. Know she adored you too.
Although you didn’t get to meet him, our little guy will know that he had a Great Grampie that was irreplaceable.
Your hugs were one of my favorite things; one I’ll miss the most. I felt the depth of your love each time you hugged me tight and I wish I could have just one more tonight.
Each visit, when the time would come to say goodbye, you'd comfort me while we both struggled to hold in our tears - sometimes we were successful and sometimes we were not. There would be endless hugs and kisses until we had to leave and you were always there in the window waving as we pulled away.
Time may have stolen your memories, but I’ll treasure every one I have of you.
Before I went to bed last night, my daughter said, "Grampie was a great, great man." Truer words have never been spoken. You were perfectly imperfect and so incredibly loved. You will be remembered. Always.
All my love,
Your Grandaughter Katie

We have many wonderful memories of a lovely man whose loss for his beloved Phyllis he mourned deeply. He was a gentle man who walked the softly on the earth! At long last he is reunited with his wife in the presence of the Lord.
