Obituary for Hilda Hay

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Hilda Hay. Throughout her 91 years, she touched and warmed the hearts of many, leaving lasting memories with each of us.
She spent her life making sure that her children, Janet and Bill; her grandchildren, Marianne, Christine, Emily, Jamie, Kelly and Carrie; her great grandchildren Ally, Keagan, Jacob, Wyatt, Nicole, and Billy, were loved and well taken care of. She was always there as a sounding board when life got hard, always had a home cooked meal ready so no one went hungry, was always available to be a personal taxi driver, and always up for a conversation about sports and CNN reports. Nothing was ever left unsaid, and she was never afraid to share her opinion or give us a piece of her mind when needed.

Hilda was a long time volunteer and billet for the Lindsay Muskies hockey club. Her hockey”boys” were her pride and joy. She opened her home and her heart to many young hockey players over the years. Her home was always filled with hockey boys (and an occasional girl), lots of laughter, and of course, the odd lecture! She loved each boy that stayed with her, and many have stayed in touch with her.

Hildas 90th birthday was Jan. 12, 2019, and the Lindsay Muskies honoured her at their home game on Jan. 11. She was given a red carpet escort to centre ice for a ceremonial puck drop, and presented with a Muskie jersey #90, as family, friends, the Muskie organizers, and many of her former billets turned out to celebrate with her. She was deeply touched and grateful for the wonderful evening.

She lived for her family and friends, and always lived life to the fullest. She touched the lives of many people and leaves a lasting legacy.
