Obituary for Irene Isabel Haire (Pross)

Irene Haire (née Pross) ~ Peacefully passed away with the love of her family by her side on Sunday, May 15, 2022. Irene at the age of 91 is now reunited with her beloved husband, the late Bill Haire (2016). Loving mother and mother-in-law to Suzanne and Douglas Lloyd, Patricia and Douglas McLean and Greg and Pearl Haire. Proud Nana of Bryan (Stefanie), Michael (Robin), Tara (Aaron), Billy (Lindsay), Mathew, Lindsay (Jesse), Victoria (Patrick) and Cassandra (Brad). Great-grandmother (Super Nana) of Conner, Tristan, Max, Tyler, Taylor, Theo, Austin, Waylon, Aiden, Liam and Riggs. Predeceased by siblings Albert (survived by Joan), and Nancy. Irene will be remembered and sadly missed by her immediate family, extended family and friends.

Irene was blessed with an artistic ability that included sewing, quilting, knitting and painting. Irene’s beautiful gardens and manicured forests could have graced the covers of magazines. Many of her grandchildren could speak to their time at camp Nana where they were compensated one cent per collected pinecone and the best tuna sandwich ever for lunch. Irene had her own wheelbarrow which she could manage equally or better than most men. There was never a planned drive or trip no matter the distance, that didn’t include a cooler with a full lunch and plenty of tea. Her cooking talent was so simple yet amazing and always so delicious that every plate was returned empty and most of the time looking for just a little bit more. Bill always with that smile on his face full with contentment and satisfaction. Irene’s best ever stuffing, her own Mums recipe has passed down through the family and we were so blessed this Christmas past as Mum stood there so proud and tireless in the kitchen Christmas Eve and made this for us all to enjoy from her one last time.

Irene was a beautiful, most incredible, 1940s movie star elegant, kind and caring soul that could always find the best in people. She lived her life with pure grace and humility. Irene has truly touched and impacted so many people in her life. We have all been blessed to be the beneficiaries of her life lessons, and her legacy will continue to live on within us.
