Obituary for Jim Cooke

James “Jim” Cooke entered into rest unexpectedly at the Peterborough Retirement Residence on February 2, 2021 at the age of 86. Jim was the beloved husband of Joanne Cooke for 64 years. Proud father of Jeff (Sarah), Deborah (Shona), Greg (Wendy) and Julie (Ted). Cherished grandpa of Paige, Jesse and her fiancé Daniel, Andrew and his fiancé Rylee, Matthew, Evan, Niya and Auden. Great grandpa of Benjamin.

Jim and Joanne were avid travelers who visited every corner of the globe, and he was able to document their adventures with thousands of photos for us to enjoy. Jim picked up the trumpet again in his later years and played in the Oshawa Civic Band and several bands in the Lindsay area. He also had an extensive workshop in the back of the garage where he built many pieces of furniture for his family. Jim was an active member of Cambridge St. United Church serving on numerous boards including Chairman of the Board.

Jim loved to spend time with his grandchildren! He enjoyed attending many events that they participated in, including soccer, hockey and school concerts and plays. Our Dad was always there for us whether we needed an extra pair of hands or sound advice!
Private family visitation will take place followed by cremation. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Lindsay. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. If desired, memorial donations to Cambridge St. United Church in Lindsay may be made through Mackey Funeral Home, Lindsay or online at www.mackeys.ca.
