Obituary for Jean Tate

Jean Tate, born April 6, 1935 in Toronto, Ontario passed away peacefully on December 11, 2022 at the age of 87. She resided at Adelaide Place in Lindsay and called it “Home” for the past eight years. Loving wife of the late Arnold and is survived by her six children, Laura, Arnold (Lisa), Ruth, Bill (Heather), Clifford, and Russell (Trudi), along with her grandchildren Kiera (Ian), Danika, Mariah (Nick), Isaac, Ethan, Kiga, Rachel, Victoria, Joshua (Jenna), Gillian, William, Caitlyn, and Andrew, and her great-grandchildren Rhayne, Lincoln, Grayson, Jayce, Owen, and Holly.

Jean will be remembered for her energy and love of getting people involved in the many activities she loved, whether that be dancing, Singing Seniors, painting, playing the ukulele, or any multitude of charity efforts throughout the years. She was always involved in her local churches and loved playing hymns on her piano. She had a wonderful alto voice for the choirs. Jean was a craft magnet and had her hand in almost every craft you could imagine. She even sold cakes and her famous watercolour painting cards over the years. Every year we looked forward to her Christmas cards.

Her many friends and family loved her for her ability to make things fun with costumes, funny hats, and skits. Always a positive person, she loved organizing. She was a Girl Guide Commissioner, and later in life obtained her Health Care Aid certification and worked as an activation lead with the elderly for many years. She loved mystery stories and was an avid reader and pet lover, especially fond of her wee singing canaries and many granddogs.

Jean volunteered at the Ross Memorial Hospital with fundraising activities and visiting patients with the tuck cart, always having a cheerful smile and kind word or story. In lieu of cards and flowers, donations in Jean’s name to Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated, as she received excellent care over the years.
