Joseph Clifford Murphy

Peacefully passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2022 at Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay, at age 88. ‘Joe,’ beloved husband of 62 years to the late Doreen Murphy. Loving father of the late Catherine and her husband Dan Alexander of Little Britain and Pat Murphy and his wife Sheila of Aurora. Cherished "Grandpa Joe" of Sean Alexander, Ryan Alexander and his wife Julia, Alyson Murphy-Weiler and her husband David Weiler, Sarah Murphy, and Claire Murphy. Great Grandfather of Finley and Lincoln Alexander. Predeceased by his parents Ralph and Louella (née Hart) Murphy, and his brothers Ralph Murphy (Marie), Charles Murphy (Jean), sisters Julie Gallinger (Arnold), Darlena Miller (Vernon), Frances Murtaugh (George) and Margie Fawcette (James). Survived by many nieces and nephews.

Born and raised in Cornwall, Ontario, he moved to the Ottawa area where he met the love of his life Doreen Healey and started his successful 49-year career in the construction industry. He rose through the ranks of Belanger Construction and then Campeau Corporation that saw him relocate to Montreal in 1973. In 1979 he moved to Toronto to work for Goldie-Burgess Construction and two years later was named Vice President of Construction for Todd Glenn Construction where he worked until he retired in 2000. Following his retirement, Joe and Doreen moved to Port Perry. Family and friends are invited to call at Mackey Funeral Home, 33 Peel Street, Lindsay on Friday, March 25th from 12:00p.m. to 2:00p.m. for a Celebration of Joe’s wonderful life. The livestream will begin at 12:45p.m. Remembrances will be shared at 1:00pm. Future interment will take place at Stephens Parish Cemetery, Old Chelsea, Quebec.
