Obituary for Peggy Stacey

Margaret (Peggy) Stevenson Finlayson Stacey passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on November 1, 2022 at Extendicare Nursing Home, Lindsay, Ontario.

She was born in Toronto, Ontario March 21, 1929.  She was married on March 21, 1949 to Frederick Ira Stacey,  (predeceased) in Bethany, Ontario.  They would have been married for 71 years. Peggy and Fred lived in the Yelverton area on a farm for many years and then moved to Hampton, Wilmot Creek and then Lindsay. One of her first jobs was with Bell Canada in Toronto.  She worked for the Eatons order office in Lindsay and also McCarty Jewelry in Lindsay. She was an avid leader in 4H, a member of the United Church Women and a member of the Sweet Adelines.  She had a lovely voice.  Peggy loved to do crafts, paint, knit and sew.  One creation was her daughter’s wedding dress.  Gardening, plants and flowers were a great part of her life.  She was also a wonderful gourmet cook.  Peggy loved dogs and always had a small one at her feet.  She enjoyed travel and flew to Scotland a few times to see Aunt Polly and other family members.  One trip she ventured to London, England as well. Peggy had 4 children, Carol (Keith), James (predeceased), Janice (John) and Christine (Randy).  Her grandchildren are Kerri Lynn, Andrea, John (Brittany), Sean, Stefan (predeceased), Samantha (Roni).  Step grandchildren are Nathan (predeceased) and Tyler.  Her great grandchildren are Liam, Benjamin, Donavan and Dustin.  She also had a sister Trudy (predeceased) and a half brother Graham (predeceased).

“There are some who bring a light so great to the world that even after they have gone their light remains.”

Peggy’s family would like to express that the Extendicare, Lindsay staff were so tremendously kind and caring over the years.  They were fabulous and they truly loved Peggy so much.  Also they were readily accessible with direct and compassionate communication with family members especially with Peggy’s daughter Carol or if other family called the home.  A special thank you goes out to the doctors that were so caring to Peggy.

If desired any donations can be made on Peggy’s behalf to a charity of your choice.  A celebration of life will be at a later date.
