Marie Florence Black (nee Elnor) August 8, 1929 to March 23, 2023.

Beloved wife and mother, Marie passed away at her home in Lindsay, Ontario after an extended illness. She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Robert Black; their three children, Susan, Robert and Karen; brother Billy Elnor; 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Marie built a house in West Hill with her husband Bob in 1952, where they created and maintained a backyard ice rink for many years where the children learned to skate and play hockey. Marie worked full-time for most of her life, first at Eaton’s and then for Sears. After they retired, Marie and Bob moved to a condo in Lindsay enjoying the community there as well as the opportunity to travel to Mexico, the U.S. and across Canada.

Marie was a great reader and listener and a fantastic seamstress.

She enrolled her kids in hockey, lacrosse and baseball and was a lifelong fan and supporter of their activities.

Marie had many great qualities, but her generosity and kindness to others is what we will remember about her most. She met everyone with a smile, opening doors for strangers until the end of her life. We will miss her beyond measure.
