Obituary for Marilyn Porter

Marilyn Nadine Porter (nee Scott) – March 28, 1939 – February 11, 2023. With shock and great sadness, we share that our mother, Marilyn passed away as the result of a stroke at 83 in Palliative care at the Ross Memorial Hospital. She was a cherished sister to Don Scott and Kim (Rick) House. Daughter of Ken and Jean Scott (nee Harding) both predeceased. Loving wife of 45 years to William (Bill) Porter (predeceased March 2005). Loving mom of Steven and Carolyn (Currie) Matthews. She was proud grandma to Evan and (Alex) Matthews and Isaac and (Olivia) Matthews. Fondly remembered by her aunts Kay Harding and Audrey Richards and many nieces and nephews. Just 10 days ago she became a great grandma to Elliott Matthews and in a few shorts weeks she will be a great grandma again to Isaac and Olivia’s anticipated arrival. Sadly, she won’t meet either bundle of joy. Mom sang from the young age of 4 years old and spent much of her life sharing that blessed voice of hers. She is singing with the angels now. Visitation will take place on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Celebrations, 35 Lindsay Street North, Lindsay from 11:00am until time of service at 1:00pm. A private interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Sick Kids Foundation or the Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation – Palliative Unit would be appreciated by the family. Donations and condolences may be made through Mackey Funeral Home via cheque or online at www.mackeys.ca.
