Obituary for Marion "Wendy" Donnelly

DONNELLY, Marion Florence (Wendy) (nee Olliffe), was born to Fred and Susan in England on December 11th, 1923 and passed away peacefully on April 15th, 2023 at Caressant Care Mary Street in Lindsay in her 100th year. As a teenager, Wendy worked at her parents post office in Hadleigh, Essex before marrying her first husband in England in 1943, Harold Kirkpatrick (predeceased 1993) and came to Canada as a War Bride in 1946, moving to Haliburton where they raised their four children, Marion Kouleas, Beverly (Brian Fowler), Susan (Lyle Cully) and Phillip (predeceased 2013). In 1996, Wendy married her second husband, Terence Donnelly (predeceased 2005), and had the pleasure of being a stepmom to his three sons and one daughter. Wendy and Terry settled in Parksville, British Columbia, until Wendy moved back to Lindsay in 2006. Wendy was a loving Nan to Helen Froese, Chris Kouleas (Joy), Jeff Fowler (Shae), Kim Fowler, Angela Yurick (Mark), Lisa Jones (Chris), Julie O’Neill (Mark), Jamie Kirkpatrick and Brent Kirkpatrick. Wendy will be missed dearly by her great-grandchildren as she loved being around them and watching them grow. Wendy is survived by her only sister, Stella Newby (Bill predeceased).

Wendy was a kind soul, easy to get along with and was always ready to share a story, song or poem with those around her. She enjoyed knitting, watching curling, baking, swimming, doing word jumbles and attending church.

Cremation has taken place with interment at Riverside Cemetery in Lindsay. A Celebration of Life will take place at Mackey Celebrations 35 Lindsay St. N., Lindsay on Friday, April 21st, 2023 from 6pm to 8pm with words of remembrance at 7pm.
