Obituary for Marion Sisson

Marion Sisson (nee Wilcox) of Lindsay passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 in her 97th year. She was predeceased by her husband of 75 years, Robert, who died in September 2021. Marion left her home in Thamesville to teach the primary grade in Bethany in 1944. Here she met Robert, whom she married in 1946. They lived on the family farm west of Bethany on 7A. Marion continued to teach at various 1 room schools such as Ballyduff and Cavan. Marion had many talents – sewing, knitting, crocheting and quilting. Family and friends have been grateful recipients of her handiwork. She also was a skilled folk artist producing lovely painted pieces. She deeply loved her four daughters Heather (Doug Hammill), Judy (George Davidson), Laurie (Al Mattice) and Shelley (Martin Hillebrand). Proud Granny & GG (Great Gran) to Richard, Ethan & Victoria Hammill, Kristie (JR), Douglas & Nicholas Purdy, Ashley & Matthew Davidson, Lauren, Michelle & Ryan Jilesen, Brigitte & Rebecka Hillebrand. Marion was a resident of Kawartha Lakes Extendicare for the past two years, receiving exceptional care. Visitation will be held at Celebrations, 35 Lindsay Street North, Lindsay on Sunday, April 3rd from 1-2pm followed by a funeral service at 2pm. If desired, donations may be made to St. Mary’s Chapel, Lifford. Donations and condolences may be made through Mackey Funeral Home, 33 Peel Street, Lindsay.
