McCarthy, Mary Margaret Elizabeth (nee Switzer) - Our mother Mary died peacefully in her sleep in her 88th year on Thursday November 24, 2022, in Lindsay, Ontario. Pre-deceased by her beloved husband and love of her life John Aloysius McCarthy. Loving mother to Gerry (Sheila), Todd (Kathy), and John (Joan). Beloved grandmother to Conor (Suzanne), Meaghan, Brendan, Jake, Jeanelle, John, and Julia. Proud great-grandmother to Bridget, Joan, and Daniel. Mary was born in Toronto, Ontario, to Ray and Gladys Switzer on December 11, 1934. She is pre-deceased by her parents and baby sister Connie. Mary is survived by her brothers Ray (Mary Patricia) and Frank (Gwen). Beloved sister-in-law, aunt, and cousin to a large extended Switzer and McCarthy family. Mary’s love, affection, and friendship to everyone in her family and community made a positive difference to everyone who knew her. Mary further demonstrated a commitment to her Catholic faith, family, and community that is an inspiration and example for all. Family and friends are invited to gather at Mackey Funeral Home (33 Peel Street Lindsay, Ontario) 4pm to 8pm on Monday November 28, 2022. Catholic Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday November 29 (2pm) at the Church of the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary (St. Mary’s Parish) in Lindsay, Ontario. Spring 2023. Internment at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Penetanguishene, Ontario. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Vincent de Paul at St. Margaret’s Catholic Parish in Midland, Ontario would be appreciated.
