Obituary for Merv Pass

Mervyn “Merv” Herbert Pass

Passed away peacefully at Peterborough Regional Health Center, surrounded by his two sons on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 in his 94th year. Loving father of Greg (Cyndy) and Jeff (Cathy). Cherished grandfather of Alex (Megan), Daniel (Kaitlin) and Jordan (LaRie). Dear Great-grandfather of Ariella Pass. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Bert Pass and Bertha Noble, by his sisters Thelma Ward (Harry), Eileen Suggitt (Morley), Phyleen Naylor (Vern) and special friend, Maizie Nichols (August, 2022). Merv was born on September 10, 1929 in Lindsay, Ontario. During the 1970s, he was the proprietor of Merv Pass, The Friendly Store, located at the corner of Rubidge Street and Sherbrooke Street in Peterborough. Merv was a world traveller and was known for being an excellent story teller. During his retirement years, he volunteered as a Master of Ceremonies, where he visited area seniors’ residences, with his musician friends and performed concerts. The family would like to thank the wonderful doctors especially Dr. Becca Webster and the excellent nursing staff at the Palliative Care Department at PRHC. In keeping with Mervyn’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be held at Celebrations, 35 Lindsay Street North, Monday October 17, 2022 at 11:00am with interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kawartha Wildlife Centre or The Peterborough Humane Society would be appreciated by the family.
