Mildred Marie McKeown (née Fewster) April 19, 1927-May 31, 2021 - Passed away peacefully at the Ross Memorial Hospital, Lindsay following many years of the struggle due to the effects of strokes. Beloved wife of the late Lionel McKeown. Loving mother of Wm Bruce (Sonya) and Alan (Brenda). Beloved grandmother of Inge Marie, Tracy (Eric), Sarah (Karsten), James (Shawna), Katrina (Reuben), Scott, David (Keri-Lynn), and 10 great grandchildren. Also mourned by Howard (Mary) McKeown and Lenore (Jack) Gibson. Predeceased by brothers Don and his wife Eleanor Fewster and Robert (Grace), John and Eileen McKeown. Born April 19, 1927 at Walkerside Farms near Windsor to parents Fred Fewster and Mary Florence Fewster (née Abraham). She moved to Guelph in 1928 from early age attended Dublin St. United Church, member of Mission band, CGIT was first president of young women’s group, the mission circle. At age of 12 she was invited to join the Senior choir, after being a member of the Junior Choir, and sang with the choir until the time of her marriage. Following her marriage to Lionel McKeown in 1954 she moved to Peel County to the family farm with her husband where 2 sons, Wm Bruce and Alan were born. During the 25 years in Peel County she spent many enjoyable hours singing with the “Bolton Community Choir”, and as a member of the U.C.W. and Women’s Institute. In 1979 the family moved to Mariposa Township where they continued milking their award winning Jersey herd. In due course her sons married and 7 beloved grandchildren arrived. She took great pleasure in babysitting and attending their many concerts and events and all have a deep love and fond memories of their times together. Throughout her life she was a member of the United Church, finally with the Cambray United church. Marie’s love of secular, semi-classical, country and choir music was always a great joy to her. She spent many hours playing her organ.

A visitation will be held at the Mackey Funeral Home, 33 Peel Street, Lindsay on Monday, June 7th from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00p.m. In order to adhere to the current restrictions, all guests must RSVP an appointment time to attend the viewing.
