SUTTON, Norma Jean - Loving wife of the late Russell Sutton. Cherished mother of Rosanne (Joe) Verwey, Cameron (Sherry) Sutton and Craig (Sue) Sutton. Loving grandmother to Joshua (Katie Carslake) Verwey and Jessica (Fekry ElSherif) Verwey, Brandon and Alyson Sutton, and Ben (Sarah Van Ryswyk) Sutton. Great grandmother to Jack, Max, Luke and Leah. Dear sister to the late Glen and Archie Sloan. Daughter of the late Norman and Ethel Sloan.

June 21, 2020 we lost an amazing mom, grandmother, great grandmother, mother in law and a pillar of the Reaboro community. Norma Jean was born and raised in the Reaboro community and never left. No words can describe the loss we are feeling with the sudden passing of our beloved Norma Jean.

The end of her reign for the Reaboro Post Office. She took over the post office duties in 1967 and relocated the post office to her home from the community store. Always greeting her community with a smile …and treats for the children…big and small! (Especially those candy canes at Christmas).

As written by Deepak Chopra, President and Chief Executive Officer of Canada Post Corporation:
"Reaboro residents have access to a Post Office because you have opened your home to them. They receive exceptional service because you have opened your heart to them. You've made this more than a business. Serving your community has been your extraordinary gift to area residents."
She continued to work at a job that she loved and refused to retire from till the end. It was her life for 53 years.

She was always surrounded by her three children and their families.
Forever in our hearts she will always be.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

Please Note: Current COVID-19 restrictions limit all funeral gatherings to 30 percent capacity of the building. Congregating in groups of 50 at a cemetery is currently available.

Roseanne,Craig,Cameron, and families our thoughts are with you at this time .
Your Mom made the P.O. a very warm,nice place to visit .To Reaboro the Suttons were great neighbors to everybody, with those warm & friendly smiles . I can remember dropping in after I had moved to Haliburton . Your Mom would ask about Barb and the boys, and refer to them by name . What a beautiful person, your Mom will be greatly missed .

Keep Smiling !

Dear Rosanne & Joe, Cameron & Sherry, Craig & Sue, & families;

Our thoughts are with you during this time. It is always hard to lose your mother (mother-in-law, grandmother), especially so suddenly. Norma Jean was certainly the backbone of Reaboro for many, many years, along with her family . She was a friendly and reliable constant at the Post Office, always calling you by name and asking how the family was. I remember her extra concern as my parents were getting on in years. Mom and Dad spoke highly of Norm Jean and her parents. I also remember my car breaking down at the PO. I used Norma Jean's phone to call CAA and hung out with her, having a good chat. She was always so courteous with a welcoming smile. May you find some comfort in your precious memories (great pictures by the way) and know that a little bit of Norma Jean lives on in all of you. Reaboro will never be the same, as the gates of heaven welcome another "good one".
Hugs from a distance,
Joan and Steve Herlihey

Gary Byrne and Carol Jones send thier condolences on the death of your Mother. She will be truly missed and was a pillar of the communty.
Carol remembers a time some years ago when Gary needed some stamps. He called your mom and the stamps were in his mail box the next day. Carol was shocked, but delighted to see these old country ways still around in this day and age!
