Obituary for Jim Trumbull

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of James (Jim) Trumbull on Thursday August 10th, 2023 at Caressant Care Nursing Home on Mary Street in Lindsay at the age of 75.

He was the beloved husband of 55 years to Vivian Trumbull (Northmore) and cherished father to Steve and Sherry.

He will be sadly missed by his brother Garnett Stewart of Victoria, BC and his brother in law Ron and his wife Evelyn Northmore and family of Lindsay, plus brother in law Bill Northmore and his family of Georgetown, also his dear cousin Faye Mansfield of Oshawa and her family. Jim will also be missed by many extended family and friends.

He grew up and went to school in Haliburton where he developed a passion for hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed many years as a founding member of the Oakwood Sportsmans Club in Norland.

Jim worked for the Province of Ontario in several departments for 25 years such as Corrections, Government Services and finally as a claims officer with Social Services in Peterborough where he retired in 1997.

Jim and Vivian had many happy years, enjoying family, friends and vacations in Florida together. Jim was always involved in every activity that his children participated in because he loved being a father above all else. His involvement in the community as a fundraiser, organizer and baseball coach, lead to him touching the lives of many children over the years and building long lasting relationships that he cherished. Jim liked to keep busy organizing baseball tournaments, golf tournaments and New Years dances in Oakwood. He loved his Oakwood Bears Bantams and  Little Britain Juvenile hardball teams which he lead to two All Ontario Championships. Jim could always be found at the hockey rink with great pride watching his son play and coach over the years. He was extremely proud of his daughter Sherry, when she was inducted into the Lindsay Sports Hall of Fame in 2015 for her accomplishments in rugby. Father and daughter driving across county together from Vancouver was a highlight for him.

Visitation will take place at Celebrations, 35 Lindsay Street North on Friday August 18 from 1:00pm until time of service at 4:00pm. If desired, memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada would be appreciated by the family.
