Randolph Smith “Randy” Ellis (1923-2019)
On March 29, 2019 Randy passed away peacefully at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, Barrie Ontario. Randy was born on March 28, 1923 in Brampton Ontario, son of Edward and Mary (Smith) Ellis.
Randy is survived by his loving wife Florence Otelia Coffin, sister Shirley Farmer, his five children Ron (Janis), Rodger (Sandra), Robin, Rosemary (Daryl), Randy (Michele) as well as twelve grand children and fifteen great grandchildren (with another on their way).
Randy was predeceased by his first wife Helen Bernice Brown, his brothers John and Mac, and his sisters Gertrude, Audrey, and Anna.
Randy had a passion for hockey and at the age of eighteen was playing for the Toronto Marlboros. Enlisting during WWII he hung up his skates and put his hockey career on hold becoming a pilot in the Air Force. After the war Randy returned to playing hockey in Peterborough then professionally in both Scotland and the EHL in the United States.
Randy re-enlisted in the RCAF where he had a long and successful career as a pilot flying several different aircraft over his many years of service. Randy also was the proud owner of his much beloved resort Sandhurst on Sand Lake, Ontario.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
Visitation will be held at the Mackey Funeral Home 33 Peel Street, Lindsay, Ontario on Friday April 12th from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m.
Interment will take place at the Riverside Cemetery, 347 Lindsay Street South, Lindsay, Ontario following the funeral.
The family invites you to join them after the interment for a reception at the Lindsay Golf and Country Club, 282 Lindsay Street South, Lindsay Ontario.
