Obituary for Ronald John Neil MacLean

Ronald John Neil MacLean - With shock and great sadness, we share the unexpected death of Ron MacLean on Tuesday, March 28th, 2023 at the Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay after a medical event while on vacation in Turks and Caicos. Ron is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Judy (nee Dobbyn). Adored father and father-in-law of Shawn (Stephanie) MacLean, Allison (Ryan) Howdle and Beth (Martin) Frigo.  Beloved grandfather of Trevor, Hannah, Riley, Mallory, Julia and Amy. Ron was predeceased by his mother and father, Mary and Floyd MacLean of Peniel.  Survived by his brother Douglas (Cathy) MacLean.  He is also survived by his sisters-in-laws Jane (John) Miller, Nancy (Peter) Cumming and brother-in-law Douglas (Betty) Dobbyn, plus nieces and nephews. Ron worked for the Bank of Montreal for twenty years before he purchased and managed the Bob Mark New Holland dealership, which he ran for 28 years. His passions were golf, curling and skiing along with travel.  Judy, Ron and family also enjoyed 20 years at the cottage on Wenona Lake.  He was a past member of the Lindsay Rotary Club and also served on the Lindsay Agricultural Society as well as multiple agricultural boards.  He was an active member of the Lindsay Curling Club and recently joined the Lindsay Probus Club. Ron was a person of great intellect and accomplishments yet extremely humble.  He cherished being surrounded by his family of whom he was immensely proud and he celebrated their every achievement.  He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his business accomplishments and for being “a gentle gentleman”. Ron’s sudden passing leaves an emptiness that cannot be filled, but also warm and cherished memories.  Visitation will take place at Celebrations, 35 Lindsay Street North, on Sunday April 2nd, 2023 from 2:00pm until time of service at 3:00pm.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army or the MS Society of Canada.  Donations and condolences may be made through Mackey Funeral Home or online at www.mackeys.ca
