Obituary for Rose Steiert

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our precious mother Rose Steiert, on Tuesday March 30, 2021, in her 93rd year. Rose was born on May 9th, 1928 in Germany to Anton and Maria Kawalec. In 1963, she immigrated to Canada and began a new life in Toronto. In ’72 the family moved to Little Britain where her hands were rarely still; she worked tirelessly cooking, sewing, knitting, gardening, canning and enjoying a much loved hobby farm. Her beloved hens always brought her the most joy. Rose loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals for her family; she had a flair for baking and in her younger years would make a strudel daily! Her favourite spot was Lake Scugog and the family enjoyed many lunches lakeside when the weather was pleasant and cross country skiing during the winters. Most of all she loved her family and instilled in them strong values. She is loved and missed by her husband Fred and her children and their spouses: Janine (Henry), Henri (Debbie), Sonja (Cameron), Heidi (Joe) and Frank (Brenda). Dear Oma of Kristen, Shane, Cody, Christine, Nathalie, Eric, Andra, Natalie, Audrey, Logan, Karl, Ryan, Martin and Matt. Fondly remembered by her sisters Kay Goldthorpe and Maria Kolodziej. Remembered by her many nieces: Eva, Wanda and Margaret, nephews: Leo, John and great grandchildren: Kienan, Danica, Lucien, Jace and Eden. Predeceased by her sisters Gertruda and Zosia, brothers Stefan and Anton, brother-in-law J.J. Kolodziej and daughter Monique. The family wishes to send a special thank you to Dr. Pretorius and the staff at Wadland Pharmacy for their care and compassion. To honour her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Funeral Mass and celebration will be held at a later date. Condolences and cards may be shared by contacting Mackey Funeral Home.
