Ruttan, Susan J. (nee Burridge) – Passed away peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease late Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at Victoria Manor Nursing Home, Lindsay at the age of 70.
Born on June 15, 1949 she was the eldest daughter to John and Nan (nee Parkhill) Burridge and is survived by her sisters Peggy (Dick) and Mary (Chuck) and families.
After becoming one of the last RN Graduates of Wellesley Hospital she gave her heart and soul to the Bloorview MacMillan Children’s Centre in Toronto working with disabled children prior to and following her marriage to her much-loved soul mate and husband of 43 years, Hank Ruttan. She shared with Hank a treasure trove of memories and is survived by her daughters Amy and Stephanie (Matt) and grandchildren Jack and Reese.
Sue was an avid gardener, and spent much of her life in the company of horses, ponies and poodles. Her larger-than-life personality filled every room she entered and she will be lovingly remembered by her nieces, nephews, family and a great many friends.
In keeping with these difficult times and Sue’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a gathering for family and friends later this year to celebrate Sue’s life. If desired, memorial donations made to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated.
Donations and condolences may be made through the Mackey Funeral Home, 33 Peel Street, Lindsay or online at www.mackeys.ca
