Obituary for Wyn Macdonald

Our “little fighter”, Winifred Cecilia Macdonald (Wyn) left us peacefully to join her husband Al, on April 5, 2024, just six months shy of her 90th birthday. She leaves behind her son Tom (Cathy, Robert, Rosemary), daughter Deb (Jason, Jesse), son Rick (Cheryl, Sean, Ryan) and lifelong friends Valerie and Eddie. She also predeceased her brother Ted (Dorothy) and sister Lorraine.

Wyn was always a popular addition to any event, whether it was watching the Kentucky Derby or curling bonspiels, enjoying traditional holidays or graduations – or really any excuse for people to gather and food to be eaten. Wyn quickly became friends with anyone around, especially if they were willing to lose to her in a game of her choice.

In addition to her competitive spirit, Wyn was known for her deviled eggs, potato salad, sweet and sour short ribs, her love of puzzles (Wordle, jigsaw, Cryptograms), and of course her “spotless” house. She was a force to be reckoned with right until the end, and a loving, considerate, and resolute woman that will be missed by many.

Special thanks to Dr. MacMillan, MP Cheryl Marks, Community Care Hospice Services, and ParaMed Central East.

Visitation will be held at Mackey Funeral Home, 33 Peel Street, Lindsay on Sunday, April 21st, 2024 from 2:00pm – 4:00pm.
