65 Woodhouse Ajax

The Hughes family and the Jones family were neighbours in Ajax. Our mothers were great freinds. Kevin often hung out with a few brothers of mine and was a great "protector" of all things Joneses. One winter, I was challenged to remove the igloo that had been moved form our backyard, reconstructed on the Jones backyard and well guarded. At the time, Danny had told me that if we tried to remove it...he would lay a shovel across my forehead. As our moms suggested this would never happen, it was my task , the eldest Hughes boy, to begin the process of moving the igloo back to our yard.

Kerplunk! I should have let brother MIke lead the way.

Danny got me good. As the snow began to turn red,a younger Kevin helped me over the fence. To my shame, every one else had fled!

There were many times when our family would borrow a "cup of sugar" for mom and if Kevin was not outside to guard us from Earl(the dog), we went without sugar.

Later in life, whe Kevin lived with his friends in Oshawa, he always welcomed me when we would meet from time to time.

His mom, Mona, was a very kind and special woman.

It is my belief that Kevin is reunited with Mona.

All great memories.

I wish his family peace form the Hughes family.
