Inspiration

I will never forget the warm summer day that a young teenage girl whom i had never met knocked on my side door of my house, it was a Mary Grills and she wanted to know if i wanted to be friends. Well that friendship has lasted for 38 years, and right from that day on I gained what a regarded as my second family. If i wasnt at your house Mary was at mine, I seen alot of good and bad memories being made with my second family but never once regreted ever meeting any of you. You and Gloria became very important people in my life growing up and through a higher power became my mother and father in-law. Although 38 years is a long time and in that time i have learned many of lifes lessons, I have learned the most in the last eight years. In 2008 you had a bizzare accident that left you a quadriplegic, after a year of being hospitalized and a year of rehabilitation we brought you home to our house that we did our best to accomodate you comfortably, medically and safely. We were never so happy to have you home again even though we knew you were going to need much care. Gloria being the woman and wife she is jumped righ and cared for you to her fullest and did a remarkable job all the way. In those eight years i learned some very important life lessons from your courage, strength and strong positive mind. I'm sure you had your moments of weakness which was expected but you only shared them privately with Gloria. You my dear father in-law and friend have been one of the strongest men i have ever known and you have taught me to be stronger and realize that there is always someone somewhere that is going through much more than we are. You were in the last eight years so positve, upbeat and just happy that even though you were paralyzed you could still see, talk and live life with your family and that was the most important thing to you. I could not have gone through what you did and stayed so positve. You are and always will be in my heart as one the most important men in my life and i thank you for all the great memories and lifes lessons i will cherish them forever. R.I.P Thomas Grills
