Jones, Vince (Retired Staff Sergeant of the Ontario Provincial Police) -Born in Llandeilo, Wales, on June 20,1928, and later proudly adopting Canada as his home, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday October 5th. Vince in his 86th year, was the loving husband of Grace for 52 yrs. Loving and devoted father of Bronwen Howe (Alan) and Derek Jones. Loving grandpa of Chase and Sullivan Jones. Predeceased by his brothers Tom, George and Bill Jones. Survived by his many nieces, nephews and extended family. Vince was ever present in our community and a friend to all. A career Ontario Provincial Police officer, he was one of the first canine handlers on the force. He was also a leader in the formation of the Ontario Rugby Union and, locally, the Lindsay Rugby Football Club. Vince always enjoyed conversations with his countless friends, especially his "G-4" mates. "Gaudete" -Be Joyful Always. 1st Thess. A visitation will be held at the Mackey Funeral Home, 33 Peel Street, Lindsay, on Friday October 11th, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. On Saturday October 12th, visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. A funeral service will be held at St. Paul's Anglican Church, 45 Russell Street, W, at 12:00 p.m. Interment to follow at the Emily-Omemee Cemetery.
