Obituary for Robert "Alan" Wild

Robert "Alan" Wild
Robert Alan “Al” Wild

Born May 10, 1933 at Lower Clay Pitts Halifax, a coal mining town in northern England. He was proud of being a Yorkshire lad, one of 9 children.

Alan left school at 15, entered the British National Service for 2 years and on his discharge, trained as a bricklayer. Alan wooed and married a beautiful young nurse, Dorothy Janet Wild (née Henson) in 1954. Together they emigrated to Canada.

He was father to Jane and Kathleen and grandfather to Matthew, Alex, Martin and Austin.

Working in construction all of his career, Alan built many bridges on Ontario’s roadways. Alan also worked on several water and sewer projects in towns throughout the province.

He was a good friend to all. He loved corn roasts, rugby, English beer, old stones, cricket, Yorkshire pudding, hiking, singing, painting and a good ‘knees up’.

Alan’s passion was rugby. He was a founding member of the Lindsay Rugby Football Club.

Mostly, he loved and supported his family in Canada, England, South Africa and Australia.

Alan passed peacefully November 1, 2015. All are welcome to join Janet and family for a Celebration of Life at the Lindsay Rugby Club on Sunday November 15, from 1 to 4 pm.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society or the Lindsay Rugby Football Club. Online donations and condolences may be made at www.mackeys.ca
